Dr. Miriam Bentwich (PhD) is an assistant professor of bioethics and medical ethics and
director of the medical humanities and medical ethics program at the Faculty of Medicine, Bar-
Ilan University, Israel. She has a rich background in political philosophy (PhD), and proven
expertise in empirical ethics and normative-philosophical ethics research. A key research
interest of Dr. Bentwich is with respect to the care of older people with dementia in nursing
homes, with an emphasis on the cultural perspective. Her publications include a book
(Reclaiming Liberty; Palgrave) and articles in leading academic journals such as: Nature
Biotechnology, American Journal of Bioethics, American Journal of Public Health, Ethnicity
and Health, Journal of Medical Ethics, Nursing Ethics, etc.
